Our Kids Program
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) and National Center for Education Statistics Institute of Education Sciences (IES), approximately 160,000 kids per day do not attend school for fear of being bullied. The most effective anti-bullying programs involve the entire community, and our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program plays an integral part in the overall solution; as it aims to empower your child.
Julio and the instructors at Julio Juarez BJJ arm your child with a host of positive mental and physical skills that will help him/her in school, at home, and throughout life. We advocate a non-violent discipline that uses leverage and control over opponents in response to physical aggression, allowing your child to safely exit dangerous scenarios should they arise.
Bear witness to your child’s growing energy, confidence, and spirit as they develop the strength and character to resist peer pressure, and build an attitude of success and achievement.
Jiu-Jitsu is a merit based system, that emphasizes the need to work hard, work consistently, and form positive attitudes in order to achieve goals. This is an important life lesson that we reinforce at this early age. Each and every student at Julio Juarez BJJ is taught to the same high standards, and that includes our youngest members.
As your child advances through the BJJ stripe and belt system, their appreciation for the journey tends to positively affect all areas of their life.
Every class starts with a warm-up, technical drills to build muscle memory, followed by controlled sparring (every individual match is supervised by an instructor), all with the aim of advancing knowledge and control while emphasizing safety.
A balanced curriculum of technical instruction as well as concluding our training sessions with game play, will keep your child’s heart rate safely elevated having fun on their way to a more fit future. As your child gets stronger and more active, watch their self-confidence soar.
Learning Jiu-Jitsu puts you and your child on a particular path.
For the bullied child: just knowing they have options can often help them prevent the debilitating sense of victimization that comes from being bullied.
For the child that is bullying: through Jiu-Jitsu they learn to respect others through shared effort and accomplishment. Jiu-Jitsu is a humbling practice that helps positively channel energy away from frustration and/or misplaced anger.
For the parent: you get to participate and encourage a new set of behavioral patterns. Having your child participate in a Jiu-Jitsu program represents a very powerful and effective supplement to school anti-bullying measures.
